Mar 23 2022 · Last Night @ School Committee, Boston Superintendent Search: Tommy Chang Ep. 59

The Boston School Committee is searching for a new Superintendent during a point of inflection in the Boston Public Schools. There are talks of State receivership, moving from an appointed to an elected school committee, concerns about outdated facilities, chronically underperforming schools and a labor shortage, all while working to support students and families as they recover from the pandemic. The person who is selected to lead this school system will have numerous challenges and opportunities ahead of them.

In this special series of “Last Night at School Committee,” we elevate the voices of more than a dozen key stakeholders and all six superintendents from the last 16 years as they reflect on the priorities for the school system, the attributes of a new Superintendent and more.

In today's episode, Jill and Ross are joined by Dr. Tommy Chang, who served as Superintendent of Boston Public Schools from 2015 to 2018.
