Mar 17 2022 · Last Night @ School Committee, Boston Superintendent Search: Community Voices Ep. 55

The Boston School Committee is searching for a new Superintendent during a point of inflection in the Boston Public Schools. There are talks of State receivership, moving from an appointed to an elected school committee, concerns about outdated facilities, chronically underperforming schools and a labor shortage, all while working to support students and families as they recover from the pandemic. The person who is selected to lead this school system will have numerous challenges and opportunities ahead of them.

In this special series of “Last Night at School Committee,” we elevate the voices of key stakeholders and all six superintendents from the last 16 years as they reflect on the priorities for the school system, the attributes of a new Superintendent and more. This compilation episode of community stakeholders highlights the many areas of agreement as well as some competing priorities.

We will release these episodes over the next week and a half. Please enjoy the first episode elevating the voices of stakeholders.
