WHAT THEY DO:
FoodCorps is dedicated to creating a best-in-class model for what healthy school food environments look like. In the process, they seek to serve as a resource to researchers across the school food field, and to inspire culture shifts and policy change.
WHY THEY DO IT:
FoodCorps connects kids to healthy food in school, so they can lead healthier lives and reach their full potential.
WHY WE'RE INVOLVED:
Healthy food is an essential building block for a full life. But right now, we’ve got a generation of children that is overweight, vulnerable to diet-related disease, and more likely to suffer from a variety of health problems that will hold them back throughout their lifetimes. More than 75% of FoodCorps schools had measurably healthier school food environments by the end of the school year, and in schools with more of FoodCorps’ hands-on learning activities, the children are eating three times as many fruits and vegetables.
