WHAT THEY DO:
Work to eliminate food deserts (areas in communities that have zero access to quality, affordable food) by creating beautiful food retail environments that serve the underserved communities in Boston.
WHY THEY DO IT:
To get fresh, delicious food to a population that has been left with limited or no options other than convenience stores, who offer mostly packaged junk food.
WHY WE'RE INVOLVED:
Daily Table’s founder is Doug Rauch. He’s a genius. He was the president of Trader Joe’s for many years, and when he retired, he decided that he wanted to work on the obesity and malnutrition issues in America. He went straight at these issues by setting up shop in a low-income area of Boston, and is proving that he will be able to expand not only around Boston, but in low-income areas across America.
